Community, Cause & Civic Involvement
In addition to supporting The Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Judge Kendall has been involved in Dallas politics, mostly with the elected judiciary, all of his adult life. Judges in Texas are elected in partisan elections. Judge Kendall was elected in the 80s to the Texas Judiciary and appointed to be a Federal Judge by President George H.W. Bush. He was later appointed to the U.S. Sentencing Commission by President Bill Clinton.
Joe Kendall lives in Dallas County, Texas where 100% of elected State District and County Judges are Democrats due in part to the County being a solidly “blue” county. As an active supporter of the Judiciary, in 2014 Joe Kendall was the Dallas County Democratic Party “Booster of the Year”, and in 2015 was given its LBJ Award.
Joe’s own personal philosophy is that there is no such thing as “Republican” or “Democrat” Justice. There is only one measure of justice, which comes from a fair and consistent application of the law using the tools of experience, judgment, common sense and fairness.
